Cafe Manhattan

97% love it
Cape Town's premier gay cafe
Founded in 1994, the same year South Africa entered democracy, with a hopeful American motif. You can't miss the brick-red exterior, a Waterkant landmark. Burgers, brunch and a full bar. Live entertainment Thurs. and Sun. evenings. Recently restored venue that is industrial chic with a splash of Wild West.

      Great cafe!
This cafe is popular for drinks and dinner any day, always busy. Service is great, so is the food. Its a really cozzy place to eat and have a couple drinks before going to Crew. They have some nice wines too. It is in a central location where the gay bars are, just becareful walking at night around the area. Uber!

Rude! Completely ignored by the bar staff
Visited on a Saturday night. Was a good buzz to the place, no free tables, but sat at a not very crowded bar for 15 minutes waiting to be served. Others appearing around us were served straight away? We eventually left as can't abide rudeness or bad service.

    • bad house wine served warm
Was good many years but less than average now

      De Waterkant Cafe Mangattan
Food is fair. Service is slow. Great atmosphere. Weekends very busy. Parking is a problem.
