Strictly mainstream, but open Sundays
Mostly North Indian dishes at this rare central Cape Town restaurant that's open for Sunday dinner. Also springbok, kudu (both venison cousins) and ostrich -- which you'll be offered repeatedly if you stay in SA any length of time. Large and a bit loud, but the quality doesn't disappoint. Portions are huge -- a hallmark of all but the foofiest SA restaurants. Branches in Stellenbosch and Jo'burg.
