Grand Daddy Hotel Formerly: Metropole

100% love it
Gemlike small hotel in the heart of the city
Perfect location puts you within steps of the mixed clubbing, cruising and shopping of Long Street and the cultural sights of the City Bowl as well as within walking distance of the Waterkant gayborhood. The rooftop trailer park is unique--seven Airstreams were airlifted upstairs and handed over to artists and designers to rehab into guest rooms at R1250-R1850 per trailer per night. Management runs the outdoor Pink Flamingo cinema next to the trailers, screening mostly US indie classics--so don't expect seclusion and silence. Down below, 25 sleek, minimalist rooms (R945-R1445) with all the amenities, including adapters for SA's weird and unique power outlets (you will NOT be able to bring these from home!) Cafe (open till 11:30 p.m.) and cool daddy bar upstairs. Brought to you by the minds behind the Daddy Long Legs art hotel down the street.
